 Pre-GAH Crossover Mayhem
« Thread Started on Oct 31, 2006, 8:07am »

I know some of my regular online GAH buddies avoid crossovers, but this one got in my head and I'll be darned if it's going away. My muse is insisting...

Picture it... mid 60s. Harlan and Bill are partners.

JJ Beck and that one dude are partners. With the suit. (Okay, I'll check dude's name before I get started, don't mind me.)

Kelly Robinson and Alexander Scott are partners.

The SIX of them get in an adventure together... BUT you may ask, Why don't they remember it?

Answer: Suit power we don't know about. JJ BECK had the instruction book. HE knew how to use it to its fullest advantage. Our man Hinkley doesn't, as we all know. JJ makes them forget.

Thoughts? Comments? Someone else want to write their own interpretation of what may've happened? Am I totally wacked for considering it?

Hey! Go for it!

Crossovers are so hard to pull off usually, that's my only gripe. But as long as you have everyone consistent within their own universe, it's possible.

Kos, you can do it... you write so well and with purpose.... when I tell you *squick* about crossovers, it's nothing personal. Right?

I have seen some really good crossovers. But it's a hard sell to me. The other issue is that if I love one fandom, but am lukewarm or hostile towards another one, it can ruin it for me.

Please. For the love of all good things pure and true in this world... Please. No one ever try to do a GAH/Friends crossover. Please. I beg you...

For serious fanfiction stories (dramas, action) I prefer to not have crossovers. For comedy, it's all good. One of my all time faves was a DS9/Match Game crossover. Another was a GAH/X-Files crossover. Bill harrassing Mulder about aliens.... It was brilliant...

JMHO

Go for it!

Now, my other question - when did JJ have the suit taken away? Wouldn't it be fun to think that this adventure - where Bill and Kelly are involved - would be the reason he lost it? Heh heh heh...

I think that (aside from Bill's Christmas story) this will be your masterpiece. This is the best idea for a story yet. I hate to sound like an HD, but this will be one of the few that I wait until it is finished to read. I think it will be EPIC!

Now I may hafta watch some I Spy just to figure out the inside stuff between K & S :) I read a GAH/Man from UNCLE crossover, and it was fine tho I had no idea about the other show, but I think I could get into this...

Oh wow, such glowing encouragement is making me want to pick this up again! I'd started "The Incident at Exeter," but pulled it for now, because I've just not got it in me to finish it. Additionally, even though I knew where it was going to END, I still hadn't figured out entirely what our three teams were going to DO. And the added "bonus" of having "almost" identical twins in the mix, JJ and Marshall need to figure out how to use that to the fullest advantage.

I'll post it again. I understand what you mean about waiting till it's completed to read it. I always squee with joy when I discover a REALLY good story, and it's already completed and ready for me to read straight through (just had that happen this weekend, a really good and really long Jack/Sam Stargate story that was fabulous; took the whole morning to read it.)

Thanks so much for the feedback, Noir and MT, it's a great help! Noir had already reviewed it for me, and pointed out a coupla little things that I think need addressing (thanks again! con-crit is always appreciated!)

Hey, in my opinion, all my criticism has to be constructive, otherwise it's just bitchiness. Who needs that? Sometimes I don't have a lot to say, but that's ok... when I say something, it is to make it a better final work. But sometimes, it's all opinion anyway...

Anyway, anytime. I have fun reading these stories. Keeps the series alive.

I lent season 3 to a friend last week; I have been lending them out, to share the love. I have two new people who adore the show and are sad that season 3 is all there is... if only they knew that is really isn't dead, but lives on in our fanfiction creations....

Maybe I should just pull my stories too. I don't know... I get pretty self consious leaving things up there unfinished, although, again, I like the wait til next week aspect.

Hell... it's really only about 10 people who read the stuff, anyway. If they really have to know, they can e-mail me and get my butt on the fire.

It's just that every once in a while I get on a writing spree, things go up.

RE: Incident at Exeter

Any updates, BW? I still can't wait to read this, except until it's done :)

Only crossover idea I've got is one with "The Love Boat." But, I've got two stories in the queue to write and the third just needing final beta'ing before it goes up here.

And... I think after I do write the one for the Pam board, I might take a couple of weeks from writing stories. Not because I'm getting no ideas... my case I'm getting too many for one or the other. Another reason; the second one, which I don't want to spoil just yet, needs to have a few tweeks so a. I don't try to have Bill or Ralph faint (there's a reason why I'm working out a counteract to this) and the second, I want to make sure it's got the fun/drama points balanced. ;)
